The Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, is organising an interaction of NASA astronaut Joan Higginbotham, with the students of Delhi. The Pune based organisation Mission Apollo, and the Delhi based NGO - Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators (S.P.A.C.E.), is co-ordinating with the planetarium in terms of the visit of the astronaut and bringing this opportunity to the notice of school students with an interest in astronomy and space sciences.

Joan Higginbotham was the third Afro American woman in space. She was in a space mission with Sunita Williams and was a close friend of Kalpana Chawla. Joan Higginbotham's visit to India has been specially recommended by present NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden.
