Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi, will be celebrating a Children's Fortnight, from the 15th to the 30th of November 2012.

Schools can avail concessional Full sky theatre booking at 9.30 a.m., 10.30 a.m, and 12.30 p.m. The public programme is available both in Hindi (1:30 PM and 4:00 PM) and English (11:30 AM and 3:00 PM). Duration of each show is about 35-40 minutes.

How to Book

The tickets for the planetarium shows are usually at Rs. 50/- per head. During the Children's fortnight, full sky theater can be booked at the highly concessional rate of Rs. 5000/- for 250 people. Payment can be made in cash, cheque or demand draft drawn in favour of NMML-Nehru Planetarium. Smaller groups of more than 25 can avail a group concession at Rs. 20/- per head, in the 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM shows.

Book in advance to avoid last minute rush. Entry to the sky theater would begin 15 minutes before each show. There will be no entry/refund in case group is late for the scheduled show.

The fortnight will also be filled with activities which will be conducted everyday, following the school shows of 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM. The activities will be aimed towards facilitating knowledge about the night sky, conducting simple star count observations with the naked eyes for estimating light pollution levels, learning about meteor showers and observing lunar occultations. There will also be simple fun filled activities involving the Earth and the Sky.

Each day, there would be one simple activity in which all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM or the 10:30 AM shows, can participate.

15th of November

Inauguration of the new planetarium program From Celestial Clocks to Jantar Mantar

Sundial Walkthrough : 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM open to all visitors at the planetarium

16th of November

Listening to the Birds of Delhi - A workshop to be conducted for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM planetarium show.

17th of November

Sooraj Mela - Many fun ways of observing the sun safely - open to all visitors at the planetarium from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM

18th of November

Patchwork Astronomy - A creative crafts corner to enjoy your interest in Astronomy - will be facilitated for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM planetarium programs.

19th of November

Matka Planetarium - create a planetarium using a simple matka - will be facilitated for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM planetarium programs.

20th of November

Tactile Astronomy - Create tactile aids for astronomy awareness which can be used by the visually challenged - will be facilitated for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM planetarium programs.

21st of November

Constellation Cruise - A sky theater discussion to befriend the night skies - will be conducted for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM planetarium programs.

22nd of November

Moon Carnival - will be conducted in the sky theater for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM planetarium programs.

23rd of November

Catch a falling star - a discussion on observing meteor showers will be conducted in the sky theater for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM planetarium programs.

24th of November

Yeh Tara, Woh Tara - A short workshop for making starcount observations to estimate light pollution levels. Will be conducted in the sky theater for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM planetarium programs.

26th of November

Dance of the Jovian Moons - A discussion on observing Jupiter Moon events with a small telescope. Will be conducted in the sky theater for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM planetarium programs. Suitable for schools equipped with a small telescope.

27th of November

Solar System Treasure Hunt - All visitors to the planetarium on this day can participate.

29th of November

T-shirt painting - Bring your plain T-shirts along and paint it with a constellation of your choice. Will be facilitated for all school groups viewing the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM planetarium programs.
