Inaugural celebration of the Indo Italian Astronomy Fortnight

An Evening with Music, Art and Astronomy

The Indo Italian Astronomy Fortnight was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Roberto Toscano, on the 16th of November 2009, at the sky theatre of Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.

6:00 - 6:10 PM

Welcome and overview of the spirit of the program by Dr. N. Rathnasree, Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library

Welcoming the Ambassador H.E. Roberto Toscano

6:10 PM – 6:20 PM

Welcome to the Ambassador by Prof. Mridula Mukherjee, Director, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library

6:20 – 6:30 PM

Inaugural Address by the Ambassador

6:30 – 6:40 PM

Celestial Sounds and the Celestial paint brush A Planetarium sky theatre presentation with nature imitating musical compositions and art

6:45 PM

Inauguration of the Exhibition on “Art and Astronomy” and an Exhibition on Galileo, by the Ambassador, in the Exhibition Foyer area of the planetarium.

6:45 PM – 7:00 PM

Viewing of the Exhibition

The Concert under the Stars In the Planetarium Sky Theatre

A Musical Concert titled The Time of a Star by Sara Michieletto and Bhai Baldeep Singh, with an interesting jugalbandi of celestial sounds with Italian and Indian music. Pulsar sounds have been mixed by Gigi Parise

8:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Skywatch with Telescopes, in the backlawns of the Teen Murti House, to be conducted by the planetarium staff, members of Science Popularisation Assoctaion of Communicators and Educators (S.P.A.C.E.) and the Amateur Astronomers Association, Delhi.
